As I have mentioned before, I love checking out cool new apps, services, and technology on the Nokia Beta Labs site and yesterday a post was made on the Beta Labs blog introducing Nokia Easy Meet. This is a new collaboration tool that looks like it works best for holding an actual or virtual meeting with several folks using Nokia devices and PCs. Nokia Easy Meet is a free service that you access via a web browser (S60, Opera, Firefox, Safari) so you may be able to use it with lots of different mobile devices and computers. It does not work with IE6. I will have to do some testing with the iPhone, Windows Mobile, T-Mobile G1 Google Android device, and other devices to see how well it works. All About Symbian has a nice article on the service. From the Nokia Beta Labs site, here is the list of features supported by Easy Meet:
- File Sharing, supporting PPT, JPEG and PNG
- Chat
- Meeting Minutes
- Whiteboard
- Gesturing
- File Downloads
- Participant Awareness
- Remote Content Access (OVI Files).
- One click to join a conference, including voice conference
If you use the service to create a meeting, then an email and/or SMS can be sent to each participant so they can easily get to the virtual meeting room. Anyone try this out yet?
