The Nokia E72 promises to improve on the previous model, the E71, but I wonder how the 5mp camera is going to perform. Fortunately, there are already some people carrying this slick device taking photos and sharing them on Flickr. I’m not sure if they’re allowed to, but those photos are available to the public if they knew how to look.

I just finished moving my family plan over to AT&T and am now on a single carrier rather than having AT&T and T-Mobile (one way to reduce our monthly costs during this uncertain economic time). This morning AT&T and Nokia announced another S60 device, the Nokia Surge. The Nokia Surge supports AT&T’s 3G network and includes a slide-out QWERTY keyboard with a focus on messaging at a low price of $79.99

The first firmware update arrived for the Nokia N97 on July 1st, but there are still major bugs related to the camera that are very frustrating. I hope Nokia repairs these bugs soon because it is ruining my usage experience

Although not everyone likes their Nokia N97, I keep leaving my iPhone 3GS and going back to it because it does what I need better than what the iPhone 3GS does. As a power user, one of the major faults in the N97 that drives me nuts is the low amount/lack of proper management of the included phone memory. With caching and other local memory storage mismanagement by the OS I have ended up at times with less than 1 MB of available phone memory and pop-up errors appearing

As you all know I am a huge fan of the Nokia E71 and E71x (check out our Nokia E71x Starter Guide) and primarily just pop the devices in my pants and shirt pockets. With their slim form factor and stainless steel casing I have not yet had any issue with damage and wasn’t really looking for any type of case. I then saw one of my favorite case makers, OtterBox, announce the Nokia E71 Impact Case and had to give it a try with my E71x.

It’s been a while since contributor Ninong Brown contributed something to this blog and that had to change. We had lunch at a local Malaysian restaurant and put our Nokia N95 and Nokia N97 to a duel. Which one takes better pictures of food with the flash on

As Jason Hiner reported on ZDNet a small research firm predicted that Apple and the iPhone would overtake Nokia in 2012. I think it is ridiculous and impossible to predict the highly volatile smartphone market and to try to predict what will happen in three years is really stretching it.

I couldn’t sleep last night and was literally staring at the wall for a long time. I figured I might as well take some sample photos of the wall from the Nokia N97, N85, N82, and the iPhone to compare their flashes (or lack of flash).
