Is the Nokia N97 coming to the US in June for less than $600?

Posted under Reviews on Thursday, 21 May 2009 by jack

I read over on Mark’s The Nokia Blog site that the Nokia N97 may be arriving at reseller facilities on 2 June. This is an estimated date and doesn’t mean that they will ship out to buyers on that date so I don’t think people should get their hopes up too high just yet.

Nokia continues to dominate in worldwide market share

Another analyst report was released, this time from Gartner, that shows Nokia still has a huge lead in worldwide market share for the 1st quarter of 2009. Their sales were actually great in number than in 2008 and I think the Nokia 5800 availability may have had a lot to do with this increase. The people who buy Nseries devices may have been a bit hesitant this quarter and probably in the 2nd quarter as they wait for the Nokia N97 that was announced way back in the Fall of 2008

Nokia’s 6600i brings 3G, big camera without any nostalgia

Filed under: Handsets Back when you were nothing more than a twinkle in your daddy’s eye, the Nokia 6600 was among the first S60 devices ever to reach American shores when it launched on T-Mobile in 2004. The 6600i of today, though, is a very different beast — a Series 40 handset that Nokia hails as its smallest and lightest 5 megapixel slider to date. Besides the cam, you’ve got 15fps VGA video recording, dual-band UMTS with quadband EDGE, Bluetooth, microSD expansion, and a QVGA display clocking in at a tight 2.2 inches

Mike from Nokia Conversations brings us up to date with all the goings on at the Where 2.0 Conference, in San Jose, California . This week Nokia is in attendance at the Where 2.0 Conference in San Jose, California, the world’s biggest event focussed on exploring location-based services. With over 1,000 key people in attendance, this year’s event is already proof of the rise in significance of location-based services and tools for the mobile industry as a whole, and is primed to be a hotspot of creative thinking and investigation into what’s possible in terms of location-based services today, and what’s just around the corner

Keepin’ it real fake, part CCXII: Nokia’s N86 cloned ahead of release

Posted under Editorials on Thursday, 21 May 2009 by admin

Filed under: Handsets, Nokia It’s a sad state of things in the smartphone arena, folks. Nokia can’t even get its forthcoming N86 out of the door in official fashion before the cloning labs in China push out a suitable impostor. Of course, it’s not as if this hasn’t happened to Nokia before, but with such an anti-knockoff mentality, you think it’d take a little action to make the nightmare stop.
